Civilization Bug Turns Gandhi Nuclear

Civilization Bug Turns Gandhi Nuclear

In the original Sid Meier's Civilization (1991), leaders were assigned aggression values on a scale of 1 to 255, with Mahatma Gandhi given the lowest setting of 1 to reflect his pacifism. However, when players adopted democracy, the code subtracted two from every leader's aggression score, causing Gandhi's value to drop from 1 to -1. The negative number triggered an integer underflow, wrapping the value around to 255, which was the maximum aggression level, and it turned him into a nuclear-obsessed warmonger in the game despite being in a democracy.
