James Brown Calms Boston 1968

On April 5, 1968, the day after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, legendary singer, songwriter, and "Godfather of Soul" James Brown performed a free, citywide televised concert at Boston Garden. He used this platform to plead for calm and nonviolence. Brown's efforts were credited with preventing riots and unrest in Boston during a moment of national turmoil.
