Butterworth Rejected for Own Story

In 1950, actor Peter Butterworth, a former WWII POW, was rejected for a role in the film "The Wooden Horse," which depicted the escape he helped orchestrate in real life. The producers claimed he didn't appear convincingly heroic or athletic enough.
