Tarantula Hawk Wasp

This large wasp is known for its agonizing but non-lethal sting. Though not dangerous in terms of toxicity, the sting causes overwhelming, unrelenting pain that shuts down one's ability to function. Entomologist Justin Schmidt described it as a pain so intense that victims are advised to lie down and scream because they often lose coordination and verbal ability.
