The 2006 China Dog Massacre

In 2006, China slaughtered 50,000 dogs in response to three human deaths from rabies. Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot. Before the mass culling teams arrived, they offered owners 63 cents per dog to kill their own pets.
