In 2000, leaders of the Ugandan doomsday cult, the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God, massacred over 900 followers. After the prophesied apocalypse failed to occur, disgruntled members demanded the return of their wealth, leading the leaders to carry out mass killings. The leaders managed to escape capture.
