Indian mountaineer Narender Singh Yadav claimed that he reached Mount Everest's summit in the Himalayas on May 20, 2016, but his team leader and rescuers said altitude sickness stopped him in the death zone. Photographs later revealed discrepancies, including a missing oxygen-mask tube and absent reflections in his sunglasses, prompting Nepalese investigators to conclude that he had falsified the evidence. India revoked his Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award, while Nepal imposed a six-year ban backdated to his claimed summit date. Yadav returned to Everest Base Camp the day after the ban expired and reached the summit on May 27, 2022, accompanied by two guides who collected extensive photographic and video proof.
