In 2014, Cascades Elementary School in Lebanon, Oregon, ended a "pay-to-pee" practice that charged students "Super Pro" bucks for bathroom visits outside three scheduled breaks. Children could instead save the fake money for trinkets at the school store, giving them an incentive to hold it in. A first-grade girl named Lily had an accident while trying not to spend her bucks, while other children feared penalties on classroom behavior charts. After parents complained, the principal ended the payment and chart penalties, although teachers could still remove two minutes of recess for unscheduled bathroom visits.
