Cartman's Father Delay Drew Complaints

On April 1, 1998, South Park viewers expected the Season 2 premiere to reveal the identity of Eric Cartman's father after the previous season ended on a cliffhanger. Instead, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone aired "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus," an unrelated episode that immediately announced the promised answer would not appear. Comedy Central received more than 2,000 angry emails within a week. Fans waited another three weeks until "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut" finally continued the story on April 22.
