British Cinemas Tightened Age Checks

In 1999, "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" used censorship and children's exposure to mature entertainment as major themes, following its young characters as they sneaked into an obscene film. Britain gave the movie a 15 certificate, but cinemas expected younger fans to imitate its plot by evading the age restriction. Multiplex managers instructed staff to request photo identification from suspiciously young patrons.
