Timmy Burch Survived Network Objections

Comedy Central originally wanted South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker to remove Timmy Burch, fearing controversy over the inclusion of a disabled child character. Parker and Stone fought to keep him because the other children treated Timmy as an equal rather than excluding or ridiculing him for his disability. The network relented, allowing Timmy to become a recurring South Park Elementary student.
