Body-Snatching Attempt Forced Elvis Reburial

After Elvis Presley died in 1977, about 80,000 people lined the route to Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, where he was buried beside his mother, Gladys. An attempt to steal his body occurred in late August, less than two weeks after his funeral. On October 2, the remains of both Presley and his mother were exhumed and reburied in Graceland's Meditation Garden.
