Simpsons' Newton Joke Haunted Apple

In the 1994 The Simpsons episode "Lisa on Ice," school bully Dolph wrote "Beat up Martin" on an Apple Newton, only for its poor handwriting recognition to produce "Eat up Martha." More than a decade later, engineers developing the iPhone keyboard were still haunted by the joke that "Eat Up Martha" became their shorthand for a text-input failure.
