Blazing Saddles Replaced Gig Young

American actor Gig Young was originally cast as the Waco Kid in Blazing Saddles (1974), but he collapsed from alcohol withdrawal on his first day of filming. Director Mel Brooks fired Young and replaced him with Gene Wilder.
