Werner Herzog Withheld Troubled Short

German filmmaker Werner Herzog wrote and directed the 14-minute short Game in the Sand (1964), which featured four children and a rooster inside a cardboard box. The footage included a chicken buried in sand up to its neck, but Herzog said the filming "got out of hand" and abandoned the project. He has never published or publicly screened the film and says it will remain unreleased during his lifetime.
