Feige Nearly Resigned Over Downey

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige almost quit Marvel during production of Captain America: Civil War after Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter ordered writers to remove Robert Downey Jr. from the script. Downey's expanded role required a large salary, profit percentages, and a potential performance bonus, while Perlmutter wanted further budget cuts. Feige threatened to resign rather than lose Downey from the film. Disney CEO Bob Iger later restructured Marvel Studios so Feige no longer answered to Perlmutter or the Marvel Creative Committee.
