Ginsburg's Harvard And Columbia Reviews

The first woman to serve on both the Harvard Law Review and Columbia Law Review was Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She entered Harvard Law School in 1956 as one of only nine women in a class of about 500 men, and the school's dean Erwin Griswold reportedly asked them, "Why are you at Harvard Law School, taking the place of a man?" After her husband accepted a job in New York, Griswold refused to let her complete her third year at Columbia while earning a Harvard degree, so she transferred and tied for first in Columbia's 1959 graduating class. President Bill Clinton appointed her to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1993, making her the second woman to serve as a justice.
