Jameson Expedition Allegedly Enabled Cannibalism

During the 1887-1889 Emin Pasha Relief Expedition in Central Africa, a Scottish naturalist and Jameson Irish whiskey heir named James Sligo Jameson allegedly bought a 10-year-old enslaved girl for six handkerchiefs so he could witness cannibalism. According to a sworn statement by an interpreter named Assad Farran, Jameson handed the girl to people identified as cannibals, who killed and dismembered her while he made rough sketches. Farran said Jameson later completed six watercolor sketches depicting the killing and the removal of her remains.
