Alan Bean Blinded Apollo's Camera

During Apollo 12's first moonwalk in November 1969, astronaut Alan Bean accidentally pointed the mission's color television camera directly at the Sun while mounting it on a tripod. The intense sunlight damaged its vidicon imaging tube beyond use, ending live television coverage from the lunar surface for the remainder of the mission.
