Marcus Schrenker Faked Death Midflight

In January 2009, American financial adviser Marcus Schrenker tried to fake his death by falsely reporting that his plane's windshield had shattered and he was bleeding profusely. He then activated the autopilot and parachuted over Alabama, leaving the empty aircraft to fly another 200 miles before crashing near a residential area in Florida. Schrenker escaped on a motorcycle he had hidden beforehand, but an email to a friend exposed his location. Authorities found him two days later inside a tent at a campground in Quincy, Florida.
