Childbirth Inspired Half-Life's Baby Monster

The Nihilanth, the final boss of the 1998 video game Half-Life, was inspired by the birth of American video game developer Gabe Newell's eldest son, Gray, in the late 1990s. Newell and his wife considered childbirth the most frightening thing they could think of at the time, so the Nihilanth resembles a giant, monstrous baby. Gray later said that the boss was supposed to represent him.
