Hillary Dawa Sherpa Survived Everest

Nepalese mountaineer Hillary Dawa Sherpa was presumed dead in May 2026 after he was stranded at an altitude of around 7,500 meters on Mount Everest without bottled oxygen. Thus he survived for six days without a proper food supply, chewing ice, drinking melted snow and eating pieces of chocolate found in his pocket. During his descent, he fell into a crevasse and remained trapped for 2.5 days until avalanche snow raised the floor enough for him to escape. While his family prepared for his funeral, Dawa found abandoned ropes and crawled toward Base Camp until a cleanup team spotted him near Crampon Point.
