Crates Walked Into Family Feuds

Greek Cynic philosopher Crates of Thebes was known for entering his friends' homes uninvited and helping reconcile family members, even when they were "deeply at odds." Rather than scolding them harshly, he corrected them gently and without accusation. The habit earned Crates the nickname "Door-Opener," and Athenians reportedly received him gladly and with honor.
