The oldest known written customer complaint comes from the Old Babylonian city of Ur and dates to around 1750 B.C. On the cuneiform clay tablet, a man named Nanni accused a copper merchant named Ea-Nasir of supplying poor-quality ingots and treating his servant rudely. Nanni complained that the servant had crossed enemy territory with his payment, only for Ea-Nasir to send him away, leaving Nanni without acceptable copper or a refund. British archaeologist Leonard Woolley later discovered the tablet at Ur, and Guinness World Records recognizes it as the world's oldest written customer complaint.
