Mexico's Great Pyramid of Cholula is the world's largest known pyramid by volume and, according to Guinness World Records, the largest monument ever constructed. Its estimated volume exceeds 4.45 million cubic meters, nearly twice the Great Pyramid of Giza's 2.5 million cubic meters. Beginning in the Preclassic Period, builders repeatedly expanded it into six superimposed structures with a final base measuring 300 by 315 meters. Archaeologists later cut approximately 8 kilometers of tunnels through the pyramid, revealing successive temples, altars, floors, walls, human remains, and parts of a much larger ceremonial complex.
