Nabta Playa Tracked Solstice Rains

Nabta Playa in southern Egypt is more than 7,000 years old, making it older than Stonehenge and one of the oldest known astronomical sites. Its stone circle marked the summer solstice and the arrival of monsoon rains, and archaeologists encountered the largely sand-buried site in the 1970s.
