Moneymaker And Gamble Beat Poker

Moneymaker And Gamble Beat Poker

In 2003, an amateur poker player named Chris Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker Main Event, with help from his friend Dave Gamble, who backed part of his trip to the tournament. Moneymaker had qualified through an $86 online satellite and entered the $10,000 championship in Las Vegas as an unknown player. He beat professional poker player Sam Farha heads-up and won $2.5 million. The names made the story even stranger, because Moneymaker and Gamble were both their real last names.
