Leopard Seal's Fatal Attack Incident

Leopard Seal's Fatal Attack Incident

In 2003, British marine biologist Kirsty Brown became the first recorded human fatality attributed to a leopard seal while conducting research and snorkeling in Antarctica. The leopard seal grabbed Brown, repeatedly dragged her underwater, and held her beneath the surface for about six minutes at depths of up to 230 feet (70 m). Rescue attempts failed, and she drowned.
