Human milk oligosaccharides, or HMOs, are a type of sugar found only in human breast milk. Infants cannot digest these sugars themselves. Instead, HMOs feed beneficial bacteria in the infant's gut, thus supporting the development of a healthy intestinal microbiome during early life.
