Australia's Unpaid Witch Doctor Curse

During the 1970 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, members of the Australian national soccer team consulted a witch doctor before a crucial match against Rhodesia in Mozambique. Australia won the match and advanced, but team officials never paid the witch doctor for his services. In response, he allegedly placed a curse on the team. Australia then failed to qualify for another World Cup for 32 years, finally ending the drought when it reached the 2006 tournament.
