Joy Survived Romanov Family Execution

A dog named Joy was the only member of Nicholas II’s household to survive the Romanov family’s execution in 1918. The Bolsheviks killed the former Tsar, his wife, their five children, four retainers, and two other dogs, but spared Joy because he did not bark. Joy was later rescued and taken to England, where he lived out the rest of his life.
