Akon City Became Abandoned Dream

In 2018, Senegalese-American singer Akon announced "Akon City," a planned community in Senegal that he described as being a "real-life Wakanda." The project was supposed to use blockchain and cryptocurrency technology, with construction beginning in 2023. By 2025, the site reportedly sat abandoned.
