In 2008, archaeologists found a roughly 40,000-year-old polished stone bracelet in Denisova Cave in Siberia. The bracelet was linked to the Denisovans, an extinct human group. Its drilling, polishing, and shaping showed a level of technical sophistication not usually associated with such an ancient artifact. The discovery made the bracelet one of the oldest known pieces of jewelry ever found.
