Prince Rejected Ruby Rhod Costumes

American musician Prince was the original choice to play Ruby Rhod in "The Fifth Element," the role that later went to American actor Chris Tucker. He backed out after seeing French designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s costume ideas, which he reportedly felt were "too effeminate." Tucker then took the part and turned Ruby Rhod into one of the film’s loudest and most memorable characters.
