Irma Grese’s Auschwitz Execution

Irma Grese’s Auschwitz Execution

Irma Grese, a German concentration camp guard known as the "Hyena of Auschwitz," became the youngest woman executed under British law in the 20th century. Before she turned 18, she tried to join the Ravensbrück training program, but officials rejected her and told her to return when she came of age. She later served at Ravensbrück, Auschwitz-Birkenau, and Bergen-Belsen, where prisoners accused her of brutal violence. After the Belsen trial found her guilty of war crimes, British authorities hanged her at Hamelin Prison in 1945, when she was 22.
