Law And Order’s Clang Secret

The iconic scene-change sound in "Law & Order," known as "The Clang," was created by American composer Mike Post. It sounds like a judge’s gavel or a jail door slamming, but the show’s own sources describe it as an amalgamation of “six or seven” sounds. One of those sounds was reportedly 500 Japanese men walking across a hardwood floor, and the effect became so tied to the franchise that later "Law & Order" shows carried it over too.
