Io’s 100-Meter Rock Tides

Even though Jupiter’s moon Io has no water, it still has waves. NASA says Jupiter’s gravity and the tugs from other large moons flex Io so hard that its surface rises and falls, making tides of solid rock. Those rock waves can reach about 100 meters (328 feet) high.
