Scientists believe Saccorhytus to possibly be the earliest known ancestor of humans (and many other animals) after finding its fossils in China. The creature lived about 540 million years ago, was only about a millimeter wide, and probably moved between grains of sand on the seafloor. It had a very large mouth compared with the rest of its body and, surprisingly, no anus.
