Early Superman Slum-Wrecker Vigilante

Early Superman stories depicted him as a tough vigilante who targeted wife beaters, profiteers, and lynch mobs. In one notorious episode, he demolished a slum to force the government to replace it with decent housing for poor families, and the National Guard opened fire on him for it. Those early depictions also showed him using lethal force at times, treating “justice” like something he enforced with his fists first and explanations later.
