O.J. Trial Sank Gargoyles

The "Gargoyles" TV show had strong ratings, and its team was planning years of future stories, but the rollout got wrecked in 1995 while the show was airing in syndication. Creator Greg Weisman said the O.J. Simpson trial kept pre-empting episodes for trial coverage on local stations, so viewers in different cities missed chunks of the series and started falling out of the habit of watching it. By the time the trial ended, the momentum was gone, and other factors inside Disney killed the show.
