Kirstie Alley Rejected Frasier

When producers announced the "Cheers" spinoff "Frasier," American actress Kirstie Alley called TV producer David Lee to say she would not appear on the new show. She told him her Scientology beliefs made her reject psychiatry, which sat at the center of Frasier Crane's character. Lee shut it down fast and replied, "I don't recall asking." Alley stayed off the spinoff, and the series moved forward without her.
