When the early MCU started taking shape, Marvel paid several future franchise pillars surprisingly modest base salaries. Reported figures put Robert Downey Jr. at about $500,000 for Iron Man in 2008, Chris Hemsworth at about $150,000 for Thor in 2011, and Chris Evans at about $300,000 for Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011.
