Before Spider-Man opened in 2002, Sony created a special teaser trailer that showed bank robbers escaping in a helicopter before crashing into a giant Spider-Man web strung between the Twin Towers. The footage was made specifically for promotion and was not part of the finished film itself. After the September 11 attacks in 2001, the studio quickly pulled the trailer from theaters because of its striking use of the World Trade Center.
