Japanese Spider-Man Created Power Rangers

In 1978, Japan produced a live-action Spider-Man series that radically changed the character by giving him a giant robot called Leopardon. That robot became a major hit, and Toei carried the idea into later entries in its Super Sentai franchise, where giant robot battles became a defining feature. Years later, Super Sentai was adapted in the United States as Power Rangers, which carried that same giant-robot formula to a new audience.
