Tyrannosaurus rex Lost Kangaroo Posture

Tyrannosaurus rex Lost Kangaroo Posture

For much of the 1900s, Tyrannosaurus rex was often shown standing upright with its tail dragging on the ground, almost like a giant kangaroo. That pose appeared in museum mounts, books, and movies because early researchers had not yet worked out how the animal really balanced its body. Later evidence from dinosaur trackways and anatomy showed that T. rex actually held its body much more horizontally, with the tail stretched out behind as a counterweight. By the time Jurassic Park arrived in 1993, that revised posture was already accepted by scientists, and the movie helped make the newer, more realistic version famous with the public.
