Nigersaurus Replaced Teeth Every Fortnight

About 110 million years ago, the Nigersaurus dino lived in what is now Niger and fed close to the ground with a broad, unusual mouth. Its jaws carried more than 500 teeth arranged in dense rows, and fresh replacements stacked beneath the working teeth so the mouth could keep functioning even as the front teeth wore down. Researchers later estimated that each tooth could be replaced in as little as 14 days, giving Nigersaurus one of the fastest known tooth replacement rates in any dinosaur.
