Argentinosaurus Began With One Bone

Argentinosaurus Began With One Bone

In 1987, a farmer near Plaza Huincul, Argentina, noticed a huge bone sticking out of the ground on his land. That discovery led paleontologists to excavate the site, and the remains were later named Argentinosaurus in 1993. The animal turned out to be a colossal sauropod, so large that scientists still rank it among the biggest land animals ever known. Even now, its size is so extreme that researchers still argue over whether it was merely one of the largest or the largest of them all.
