The Goodies Laughed Viewer to Death

Death from laughter has been recorded as a real cause of death, and one modern case involved a 50-year-old English bricklayer named Alex Mitchell. On March 24, 1975, he watched an episode of the British TV comedy The Goodies and laughed continuously for about 25 minutes before he slumped on the sofa and died from heart failure. Afterward, his widow sent a letter to the show’s creators thanking them for making his last moments of life so pleasant.
