Star Trek Scotty Inspired Engineers

Canadian actor James Doohan played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott on Star Trek, and his on-screen starship engineer became a real-world influence at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The school surveyed its students and found that about half said Scotty had inspired them to choose engineering as a career. In response, the university awarded Doohan an honorary doctorate.
