Man With Donor DNA Body

In 2019, a crime lab in Reno, Nevada, reported that bone marrow transplant patient Chris Long, who received the procedure to treat acute myeloid leukemia, no longer carried his own DNA in his blood four years later. Tests also found donor DNA in samples from his lips, cheeks, and, most surprisingly, in his semen, even though the rest of his body still contained some of his original genetic material. That made Long a chimera, meaning one person carrying two sets of DNA, and it also raised serious forensic questions about how investigators interpret biological evidence.
